Shanghai FengLing Renewables, along with Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, signed a Memorandum of Understanding today with the Serbian government for investments in renewable energy sources (RES).
This project entails the development of a facility near Bor with a total capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW), comprising a 1,500-megawatt (MW) wind power plant and a 500-MW solar power plant, alongside the establishment of a green hydrogen production factory with an annual capacity of approximately 30,000 tons.
The total investment for this initiative amounts to about €2 billion. Construction of the plant is slated to commence in the first quarter of next year, with the initial phase of 700 MW expected to be operational by mid-2026.
The entire project, encompassing the full 2,000 MW capacity and achieving the annual production of 30,000 tons of green hydrogen, is projected to be completed by the end of 2028.
This venture is anticipated to create between 300 to 500 new jobs, primarily within the renewable energy sector, offering competitive wages.
